Octavia in Blue

Having a few days off work to recharge the batteries does you good, I should be emptying my craft room but have been playing instead. Good for me but at this rate I'll never get the place rewired!

Anyway I printed some digi's more to practice my colouring than because I needed to make a card but now I've finished them I thought it was a shame not use them so here is one of the ones I've used.
I've started with a 6x6 Kraft card and added a couple of DP from the Winston Collection by Polkadoodles, I coloured the image with Spectrum Noir pencils, I really wanted her to have red hair and lost count of how many pencils I used to get the colour something like what was in my mind.

I coloured the lace with one of my Graph'it pens and then decided to cut out my new die which was a club gift from C&C. I cut it in the same blue backing paper but it didn't look right so I used the same pen to colour this too.  I found an old swirl die and cut one from a bit of left over kraft card, added a few flowers, sparkly heart and a few gems. I wasn't going to add a sentiment but this was already printed so I thought it worked quite well so that went on too.

This is what I've used

Ribbons and Lace at Polkadoodles

Good morning all, another fab challenge over at Polkadoodles which this time is Ribbons and Lace. This fitted in quite well with a card I needed to make for a friend whose aunt is 70 this month.

I was asked to add a few photo's in but didn't want to go the usual way of putting them right on the front but rather hiding them a little.  I cut two square cards and joined them so they made  tri fold card.  I have decorated the front of the card with a huge 70 which I found in the Winston Collection, I was going to use it without a background but once I'd printed it I decided that it would look better if I cut it out so printed some backing papers from the latest W&P 9 collection, I just love the selection of papers available on here, and although the collection is called Love and Kisses as you can see these papers work really well for more general cards.

I have used the same flowery paper inside as mats to put the pictures on, I won't show you the inside as I'm not sure if it would go down too well. I used some white ribbon to tie the small card and hold it closed and there is some lace down the edge, I must stop buying so much lace as it's so pretty I don't want to use it!

There was a little of the backing paper left so I used it to cut out the butterflies, you can't really tell it's the same paper but the colours are the same so it works well.  I'm not sure you can see the glitter but there is plenty on there and I then finished the butterflies off with some pearls.

I found a verse and once printed I used a die to cut it out, that is all that is inside at the minute but I may add a bit more as if you've reached 70 you deserve a bit of bling.

So there you have it, hope you like it and you can come on over and join us, don't forget you could be a winner!

Anything Goes at Digi Choosday

I've had a day off work today and instead of getting on with clearing the craft room I had a bit of a play instead, don't feel 100% so that was all the excuse I needed.

I need a card for one of my workmates who is leaving next week so this is an ideal time to get it done, I chose to use Etty who is a friend of Winston and the collection is one of my favourites because there is so much on it and Nikky doesn't forget about the men either.
I printed a couple of the backing papers which I think go together quite well and I managed to find a green doily which matched perfectly. I coloured Etty in with Spectrum Noir pencils and as I haven't used them for so long I'm quite pleased with how she turned out, I had originally cut her out with her background but decided to fussy cut her and use the backing papers and doily behind her.  The butterflies are cut from the same paper but sprayed with glue and dipped in glitter to give them a bit of oomph!

Everything Stops for Tea - CD Sunday

Good morning and a Happy Sunday to you. It's time for a brand new challenge over on CD Sunday and this time it's Jocelyn's turn to choose, she has decided on Everything Stops for Tea. She could be right as we all need a brew now and again just as the young lady in my card has done, she's having a rest from shopping and it looks quite windy where she is doesn't it?

I've used a couple of the Polkadoodle cd's for this card and had a bit of fun colouring the image in, the flowers and backing paper are from the Winston collection and the digi is from Dollie Daydreams - Girl Talk which has both coloured and black and white images so if you need a very quick card you can just print off a precoloured image.  I cut the flowers out with my Silhouette, I did a print and cut and when I traced the flowers the cut wasn't smooth but I decided to leave it and see how it looked once it was cut out and I quite like the result as it gives the flowers a bit of texture.
I've added a bit of lace that I bought from Brenda via her facebook page, beware if you haven't seen the things she sells it could be a dangerous place to visit. I have also used a couple of Memory box dies, the smaller ones are just a corner die (Madera corner) cut in half and the border one is called Cherish which I have had for quite a while.

I hope you can join us and have a bit of fun, you could even win a little prize if Jocelyn likes your make the best.

All things Kraft with Polkadoodles

It's the turn of Team b to make something for the inspiration post this week at Polkadoodles, I decided to use some backing paper from the Dollie Daydream Girl Talk cd and one of the digi's from the latest Work and Play 9 - Love and Kisses selection, this digi is called Over the Threshold.
I decided to make an easel card and used one of the precut card blanks I bought a while ago as the base and cut another one in half to use under the topper. I thought the papers worked really well with the Kraft card and the little bit of lace I had.

I coloured the couple with Copics and Graph'its and one day I will make a note of the colours used, the die I used to cut the topper is a Sue Wilson one, I finished of with some Picked Raspberry distress ink and some fine glitter around the edge, in fact it's that fine you can hardly see it! The word Love is made from some cork letters I've had for a whileand the small hearts are what came out of the diecut I've used for the stopper.

More Polkadoodles

I made this little one last night when I really should have been in bed, wasn't feeling tired  a bit of a play mainly because I wanted to use some of the gorgeous lace and ribbon I've been buying.

I printed the digi out and coloured her in with copics, I didn't want to go for the traditional red so I used a more orangey looking pen which according to my pen is meant to be brown it's number E08 and this is what I've used for the dress and some of the hearts.  I printed some of the backing papers from the W&P 9 collection but ended up only using one so I'll be using the other one later.

I am quite pleased with her and hope you like what I've done.

This is what I've used today

Floral Frenzy with Wynn at CD Sunday

Good morning all, it's still very cold and work is finally happening in the house. Mind you the roof being renewed wasn't really planned so early in the year but my next door neighbour has a leak so we are both having it done together to make it easier and it's another thing ticked off the list, if it's too cold I have warned David that I'll be off to a hotel for a few nights!

Anyway this isn't what I was meant to be telling you, I am showing you my card made for the new challenge over at CD Sunday. Wynn has chosen our theme and to be honest I wasn't sure if I would get something made in time but a little down time is good for you amongst the chaos.
My card for this challenge is made entirely from the Winston collection by Polkadoodles, I've used Winston's friend Etty this time and have used a design sheet and some backing paper from the cd.  The collection is available as a cd or a download and there are even digi stamps if you only want to dip your toe in to try.
